Life With Grooming

  • Life With Grooming

I had a super day grooming six wiggling babies, full of kisses, many of them puppies. When I looked into Annie’s soft brown cavapoo eyes, I knew I had the best job in the world. There is nothing like having your hands on a warm bundle of fur for an hour.

My van is my second home. Once the door is shut and locked, pet on my table, the music is playing…I am in heaven. My tools are out …I am ready for action. My mask is on, nails are being buffed, the air smells like shampoo and so the process begins.

I know that many of you who are reading this know what I’m talking about. It’s one of the greatest feelings in the world. When the grooming process is complete you pop the dog or kitty into the house and off you go, onto the next pet, hopefully next door or down the street. Maybe it’s a new customer who has two yorkies whose owner wants them on a schedule every four weeks. In a perfect world the sun is shining every day and every customer is so pleased with your service that they include a tip!

Grooming is the great escape! It doesn’t matter where you live. It doesn’t matter how you are feeling. You can be grooming in a salon, in someone’s home, in a mobile van or trailer or in your own home shop. In comes Mr. Dirty Dawg and out goes Mr. Clean And Smelling Sweet. What a rewarding feeling. The grooming process creates a euphoria that is good for one's soul.

Do you ever feel this way?
