    • If anyone is planning on going to Groom Classic in Kansas City and needs a place to stay, Hotel Hoover has room. :)

There 9 or 10 staying here, but if you have an air mattress, there's still plenty of room. I'm about an hour from the show site.

    • I tried it one weekend, but found a car cheaper ($12 a day) than I could bid, but this weekend, I got one for $10 a day, $11 in taxes and fees, but now we can drive an economical, newer, more reliable car on our day trip Saturday for only $21!  great tip, thanks Barb

    • Thanks, I have a trip coming up and want to rent a car for it,, I will certainly try this!!

    • You get the answer right away. If I remember right, you enter your payment information with your offer. If they accept it, then you are automatically reserved and paid for at that time. You are obligated to the reservation if they accept your offer.  If they do not accept it, you are not billed, and given the opportunity to make a higher offer.

    • How quickly do you get an answer on the car rental?  That is a great tip! I have never tried that...

    • Yeah, I wouldn't want to get stuck in a flight at a time that would  be hard to work around.  It's good to know that you've had good luck with the hotels.

    • I don't know why I was so scared to try Priceline for so long, all I knew was that my sister got stuck in a seedy motel on her honeymoon 10 years ago so I avoided it.

The last couple of years I've had great luck getting cheap (nice) hotel rooms & great deals on car rentals. Sometimes it works and a few times it hasn't, but I'm glad I gave it a chance. There are some websites that give an idea of which hotels in which category are partnered with Priceline, so that's what pushed me to do it, so at least you have an idea. I still haven't done an airline ticket with it, I saw someone at the airport having a really hard time getting her Priceline flight and the airline employees were not at all sympathetic.

    • I did not know until recently that Priceline lets you negotiate car rental prices. I tried it when I went to Hershey, I offered $15 a day and got it. It was a nice discount as it's usually in that $20 - $25 a day range for weekends.

I'm needing to rent a car again in a few weeks, so decided to push it and offer $10 a day.

      I got it!

I wouldn't do it for a flight or hotel, as my flight times need to work with my schedule and not knowing areas real well, I like staying at hotels I know. For the car though, as long as it gets me from point A to point B, I don't care what kind I get or from who.

    • I am getting excited to leave Wednesday for Hershey! I'm not bringing a dog 'cause I've had a L-O-N-G summer working and just want to relax and see the trade show, friends, and get some fresh ideas. Anybody need a roomie? Let me know about your situation and I can tell you straight if there might be a "good fit." I keep a low profile. I'm in the green shirt in the photo.

    • still have room for 1 more person

    • March 1, 2012 10:43 PM CST
    • Is there anyone not bringing a dog looking for a roomie for Intergroom?  I already have one friend rooming with me and we will have room for 2 more.  The hotel will only allow one dog per room and I will have mine to compete.
