Grooming van flash fire!
HAGERSTOWN, Md. - A man and a dog are seriously injured following a flash fire Monday morning in Hagerstown.
It happened around 8:23 a.m. on the 18608 block of Warm Spring Court at the mobile trailer business, Splish and Splash Pet Grooming.
According to the Maryland State Fire Marshal, the owner/victim Brandon Boyer received first and second degree burns to his upper torso. He was transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Burn Center for treatment.
They say an eight-year-old Border Collie had singed hair, and is being evaluated at a local vet.
A neighbor tells WHAG he initially heard an explosion that shook his home. He ran out and saw the owner running out of the trailer with the dog.
"He had pretty significant burns on his scalp, upper body and arm. So did the dog, but he was able to get the dog out as well. Looks like the dog will be okay. Just a little bit of shock and trauma," said Brad Selan, a witness on scene.
Officials say Boyer was making a house call when the flash fire happened.
Our crew was on the scene early Monday morning as the damaged trailer was being removed from the area. The doors were completely off the hinges and the windows were blown out.
Estimated damages to the inside of the trailer are around $5,000.
The Maryland State Fire Marshal says the cause of the flash fire is still under investigation.
