    • Wrong shop.......

I have a shop at home. I am open there on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

At 6:45 this morning, I hear the shop phone ring. I looked to see if maybe it was a client trying to reach me about something important before I left for work. I didn't recognize the number so I ignored it. They didn't leave a message.  They did call right  back. Again no message, then someone is knocking on my front door. I ignored it. It's 6:45 in the morning! The phone rings again while he is now pounding on the door.  I finally see him walk away, with a large dog. The phone rings again, and finally they leave a message. "Barb, this is XX. Your message says you are only open on Tuesdays and Thursdays but you gave me an appointment for today between 6 and 7:40 am.  My husband is there and no one is answering."  She's obviously irritated.

I wait a couple minutes and call back. I was very polite and let her know I was calling to tell her that she must have made an appointment at another shop. I reminded her that I am not open on Fridays. I also told her I would never give someone an appointment before 8:00. She's very insistant and pretty snippy. She KNOWS she called a lot of shops that day, but she KNOWS she made the appointment with me. I even TOLD her I was in a blue house, with awnings, across from the prison.

"Ma'am, my house is not blue and I do not have awnings."

It took me a bit. I was thinking that we had a new groomer in town. Then I realized where her appointment had been made. It's a little blue building, with awnings, near the post entrance, not the prison entrance.  I called that groomer to let them know what was going on. As of then, they hadn't shown up. I don't know if they ever did.

If you don't go after what you want, you'll never have it. If you don't ask, the answer is always no. If you don't step forward, you're always in the same place.
